Vacation

We are packing up and heading to the beach for a week. Well, I should be packing. Instead, I am in denial that I am leaving very early in the morning and am spending the day on Ravelry and reading blogs... I will be sharing a house with my two sisters, their husbands and kids, my brother, his girlfriend and kids and my parents. There will be 18 of us in all. The Gaming One has to stay home and work so I will not even have him to rescue my sanity. I think by about Tuesday I will be ready to kill people. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and we all get along great, but I need my space and suffer when there is to much togetherness. Unfortunatly, we will not be vacationing at the beautifully clean and quiet Sunset Beach, NC (pictured above). The rest of my family prefers noisy, crowded Myrtle Beach, SC instead, so I was outvoted....

The silver lining? There has been record highs here with temps over 100 and my airconditioner quit working! At least the beach house will have AC. How did people survive the summer with no AC? They must have been made of tougher stuff than me for sure. Me, I have the tub full of cold water and when it gets too unbearable I sink down to my shoulders until I am shivering. ahhh sweet relief! The Kiddos are lucky enough to be at grandma's house!

I agree about Myrtle Beach. Jump in the car and head down to Pawley's Island. One of my favorite places...

YIKES Myrtle Beach in August? Are you CRAZY!?!? Pawley's Island! Drive 45 mins south and be in paradise. (quiet paradise)

I'll be there in 4 weeks and counting!

Happy trails and safe travels!

Ah, those beach vacations...lol. At least you'll have AC. Have lots of fun & collect some pretty shells.

Have a wonderful time on your vacation! I know what you mean about needing space even though you love your family. However, I am sure you will enjoy it and have a lot of fun!

Yep, I think you'll be ready to come home after spending that much time with that many people at Myrtle Beach! I dissove into what Sarah Vowell calls "The Impentrable Shield of Melancholy" after being with my family that long-- even though we're super close. But I still sort of envy you.

The last time I went to the beach we went to the Isle of Palms-- I think it's sort of near Myrtle. It was really nice, slightly touristy but not overbearly so. We were on our way to Myrtle and someone told us about it at a gas station. It ended up being a great detour :D

Oh, I already miss the quiet, peaceful bits of the NC coast! Enjoy what you can, and stay sane!

Hi,
Stopping by for the first time after seeing your cute design on Magknits. Thought we had some things in common...I recently had my first design published on Knitty.com...I homeschool my kids and experience similar frustrations you mentioned on your other blog ( we sort of lie between homeschool-unschool)...I'm often checking out other knitting blogs and spending too much time online (still only on the Ravelry waiting list)...and I don't know I just felt compelled to write and say hi from one knitting-designing-homeschooling mother to another!
